Lately in my Linux world

Well… On Sunday I felt sudden urge to try other distros. So I tried to install Fedora, I actually I was able to do that although I am still not quite sure how it happened because the installation process did freeze. But somehow when I had basically given up, took the cd out and was going to boot from my Crunchbang usb stick, instead my computer booted to Fedora. o_O Eventually I ended up in Linux Mint though – XFCE rc edition to be precise. I feel bit odd about this because in the end my desktop looks exactly same ...

Back in CrunchBang

So yesterday I finally installed the CrunchBang Statler Alpha 1, which bases now on Debian Squeeze (“testing” version of Debian). I think the change was good (from Ubuntu base to Debian). I won’t go into details why because I don’t think I have enough knowledge about these matters but like I said I think it’s good for this project. You might though find interesting this interview of Philip Newborough at The Red Devil.

Statler was released already in March and I did try to install it then from USB stick, but unfortunately my computer didn’t want to cooperate ...

CrunchBang Linux

I have been using CrunchBang Linux (#!) now little over a month. And though #! wiki warns that it “could possibly make your computer go CRUNCH! BANG!”, the experience has so far been very stable and pleasant. Only big problem was with my printer but I found the solution from #! forums. In this point I have to mention that the #! community is fabulous. :)

#! is developed by Philip Newborough and it bases on Ubuntu and in many ways it is basically Ubuntu with Openbox window manger....
