What is my browser made of?
One might call this the compulsory “my favourite Firefox add-ons” -post. So here are the add-ons I use in alphabetical order.
I’m sure if Firefox is my favourite browser, it’s rather a compromise. Opera for example is way too much and it doesn’t sit very elegantly in my desktop. I tried Chromium couple days ago and well it is very nice but again not really my type. I’d prefer using Midori or Epiphany-webkit (I quite like webkit), which are light and would look pretty (aesthetics are important for me) but they are missing some things that are very important for me.
So here I am using Firefox:
- about:me – tells little bit about where you surf mostly. Quite fun little add-on.
- Adblock Plus, Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper, BetterPrivacy and NoScript – Because I really don’t want to see ads! I would like to have at least some control over the content I look online and I don’t like dangerous life ;) .
- FireFTP – When I’m too lazy to start FileZilla (you have to be really lazy :P). Anyway it’s very nice ftp client.
- Download Statusbar – A lot more practical way to take care of the downloads than the default.
- gui:config – I have to admit, I don’t remember why I installed it, but it clearly did something I needed (hopefully at least). Gives you GUI to set more stuff in your browser.
- Long URL Please – I think tinyurls etc are really practical, but I also want to know where I am going. And if this helps me to avoid seeing things I don’t want to see (I don’t know… like two girls in the cup or whatever it was…), that’s a good thing.
- Sanakirja.org-käännöstyökalu – Sanakirja.org is (for those who don’t understand Finnish) an online dictionary, that I use a lot. It ads the sanakirja.org search in the context menu.
- Tiny Menu – I rather have everything I can in one bar, including the menu.
- Vimperator – Vimperator is disabled at the moment. But sometimes I feel super minimalistic and enable it.
- Full Flat – Makes it pretty.

Thank you Hanna.
Tiny Menu is just what I needed, but I never thought to look for something with that functionality.
Nice that I was able to help. :)
